Bharta | Coriander Paste Bengali style
Dhonepata Bata is
a traditional Bengali recipe. It is prepared during winter when dhonepata
(coriander leaves) are easily available. Dhonepata bata is a very simple recipe
and require minimal ingredients. It is mostly served with steamed rice.
Ingredients
(Serves: 2 - 3)
Coriander Leaves – 250 gms (3 Cups)
Nigella seeds – ½ Tsp
Dry Red Chilli – 1 no.
Green Chilli – 3/4 nos.
Garlic – 5/6 Cloves
Turmeric Powder – ½ Tsp
Salt - as per taste
Mustard Oil – 2 Tsp
Method
1. Clean the coriander leaves by discarding the edges of the stems.
2. Wash it thoroughly under running water.
3. Transfer to a blender. Add the garlic and green chillies.
4. Grind to smooth paste by adding 2-3 Tbsp water.
5. Add mustard oil in a pan.
6. Add Nigella seeds and dry red chilli.
7. Add the coriander paste and mix well.
8. Add salt and turmeric powder. Cook in medium flame for 7-8 minutes or till the mixture dries up.
9. Switch off the flame. Serve with steamed rice.
