Paneer Malaikari | পনির মালাইকারি | Cottage Cheese in Coconut Gravy 

How to make Paneer Malaikari

Ingredients (Serves 2)

Paneer cut into cubes – 200 gms

Boiled Onion Paste – 2 Tbsp

Bay Leaf – 1 no.

Dry Red Chilli – 1 no.

Whole Garam Masala (Cinnamon – 1 inch, Cardamom – 2, Cloves – 3)

Garlic & Green Chilli Paste – 1 Tbsp

Cumin Powder – ½ Tsp

Magaz and Cashew Nut Paste – 2 Tbsp (1 Tsp Magaz and 1 Tbsp Cashewnut)

Beaten Curd – ½ Cup

Coconut Milk – ½ Cup

Sugar – 1 Tsp

Oil – 2 Tbsp

Ghee – 1 Tsp + ½ Tsp

Garam Masala Powder – ¼ Tsp

Salt as per taste

 

Method:

1.      Heat oil, add the paneer pieces. Fry till slightly golden.

2.      In the same oil add 1 Tsp Ghee. Tamper with bay leaf, whole garam masala and dry red chilli. Fry for 1-2 minutes.

3.      Add the boiled onion paste and sauté for 2 -3 minutes.

4.      Add garlic and green chilli paste. Saute for 1-2 minutes.

5.      Add ½ Tsp Cumin powder and mix. Now add Magaz and Cashew nut paste and fry for 2-3 minutes.

6.      Lower the flame, add ½ Cup of well beaten curd and mix well. Add salt and sugar. Saute for 2 minutes in medium flame. Add ½ cup of water. Bring it to boil. Now add the paneer pieces. Cover and cook for 3-4 minutes.

7.      Lower the flame and add ½ cup of coconut milk and mix. Simmer in low to medium flame for 2 minutes.

8.      Add ½ Tsp ghee and ¼ Tsp Garam masala powder and mix. Cover and switch off the flame.

9.      Serve with Jeera Rice or Roti or Paratha.
