Onion Paratha / Pyaz ka Paratha / পেঁয়াজের পরোটা
Ingredients (Serves 2)
3 nos. medium sized Onion Finely Sliced
1 Cup Wheat Flour
½ Cup Maida
3 nos. Finely chopped green chilli
6 Tbsp Oil
1 Tsp Red chilli powder
1 Tsp Chat Masala
1 Tsp Salt
1 Tbsp Chopped Coriander leaves
Oil / Ghee for frying
Method:
1) Mix Wheat flour and Maida together. Add 3 Tbsp of oil and mix. Knead
a soft dough by adding water (8-10 minutes). Apply 1-2 Tsp oil on the dough and
keep covered for 15-20 minutes.
2) Heat 2 Tbsp oil in a pan. Add the sliced onions and green chillies.
Saute till the onions become translucent. Now add 1 Tsp red chilli powder and ½
Tsp salt. Mix well. Add 1 Tsp chat masala and mix. Cook for 2 minutes. Add the
chopped coriander leaves and mix. Onion filling is ready. Keep aside.
3) Knead the dough again for 1-2 minutes and divide in four portions.
Take one portion and roll in between in your palms to a smooth ball.
4) Place the ball in flour dusted board and roll into a roti about 7-8
inch diameter. Place 2-3 spoons of onion mixture on it and spread evenly
throughout. Press lightly with the roller.
5) Now fold it like half-moon. Press the sides tightly. Fold it again
to make a triangle shape.
6) Dust with flour and roll into a triangle shape paratha.
7) Prepare all the parathas similar way.
8) Heat a tawa and place the rolled paratha. Once it has cooked flip
with a spatula. Apply oil or ghee on the cooked side. Flip once or twice to
cook evenly on both sides.
9) Parathas are ready. Serve with butter, pickles and curd.
